General questions
What is Lokalise Vantage?
Find more information in the What is Lokalise Vantage article.
Lokalise Vantage is the fastest, most intuitive workspace for localising marketing and creative content such as blogs, websites, and documentation.
It combines AI translation, quality checks, and optional human review in one place, helping teams create, manage, and scale multilingual content without complex workflows.
Who is Lokalise Vantage for?
Lokalise Vantage is designed for teams that regularly work with marketing and creative content and need to publish it in multiple languages.
Typical users include:
marketing and content teams
documentation teams
operations or compliance teams
product teams publishing announcements or release notes
Vantage is particularly useful for teams that want fast localisation workflows without technical setup or developer integrations.
How is Vantage different from Lokalise Expert?
Lokalise offers two experiences designed for different types of localisation workflows.
Lokalise Vantage is built for translating marketing and creative content such as documents, campaigns, and help center articles. It focuses on automation, AI-powered translation, and simple workflows for non-technical teams.
Lokalise Expert is designed for software and product localisation, where teams work with UI strings, repositories, and developer integrations such as GitHub, APIs, or webhooks.
In short:
Vantage — localisation for content and documents
Expert — localisation for applications and software
Many organisations use both experiences depending on the type of content they need to translate.
Subscription and pricing
Do I need a separate subscription to use Lokalise Vantage?
No. Lokalise Vantage is available within your existing Lokalise team subscription. Vantage projects are created inside the same team workspace, so they use the same subscription and team settings as your other Lokalise projects.
Note that Vantage is available only to the customers on the new pricing plans. Legacy pricing plans are not supported.
Are there usage limits for Vantage?
Some Vantage usage is governed by the quotas defined in your team’s Lokalise subscription plan. For example, quotas apply to:
processed words
AI translation usage
advanced seats
Usage of processed words and Pro AI is tracked together for both products. You can view the combined usage (Expert + Vantage) in the Usage overview and Usage overtime sections within the Expert experience (under Team settings).
For more details, see the Team quotas article.
Is AI translation included in Vantage?
Yes. Vantage includes AI-powered translation (known as Pro AI) as part of the localisation workflow. AI translation usage is counted against your team’s Pro AI word usage quotas, which depend on your current Lokalise subscription plan.
If you need higher limits, you may need to adjust your subscription or contact your CSM.
Projects and setup
Can I change the base language later?
No. The base language cannot be changed after a project is created. If you need a different base language, create a new Vantage project.
Can I change my target languages later?
You can add new target languages at any time by clicking the Add a language button in the project editor.
Vantage will automatically translate the project into the newly added languages. However, target languages cannot be removed once added.
Do I need to set up Glossary or Translation memory for every project?
No. Vantage uses a shared team-level Glossary and Translation memory (TM).
Once these assets are added, they are automatically applied across all Vantage projects. You can manage assets under the corresponding tab:
Which file formats does Vantage support?
You can upload the following formats:
DOCX
PPTX
HTML
Markdown (MD)
IDML
XLSX
Additional integrations and formats may be added over time.
Is there a file size limit?
Yes. Uploaded files must be 50 MB or smaller.
What happens after I upload a file?
Once a file is uploaded, Vantage:
reads your content
breaks it into segments
translates the content into your target languages
This process runs automatically without additional setup.
Translation and review
Can I edit translations myself?
Yes. You can review, edit, rephrase, and approve translations directly in the Vantage editor. The source text cannot be edited.
Can I edit translations outside of tasks?
Yes. You can edit any segment in the editor, even if it is not part of a task. If needed, remove the task filter to view all segments. You can then update translations and unapprove previously approved segments to make changes.
Can I edit the source text after uploading a file?
No. The source text cannot be edited directly in the Vantage editor. If you need to update the source content, upload a new version of the file with the same name from the Files tab. Learn more in the Files guide.
Vantage will detect the changes and translate only the updated segments, while keeping the rest of the existing translations unchanged.
How does human review work?
When the AI + human review workflow is chosen, Vantage evaluates translation quality and sends segments that may need attention to reviewers.
Review tasks are created and assigned automatically.
Can I view previous versions of a translation?
Yes. In the editor, open the segment actions menu and select Translation history.
You can view previous versions of the translation, copy them, or restore a previous version if needed.
Note: If the source segment is replaced during file re-import, the translation history for that segment is lost.
Preview and formatting
How does In-Context Preview work?
Vantage allows you to preview translated content directly in the editor so you can see how translations appear in the original layout.
Why does formatting look different in preview?
To display documents in the browser, Vantage may simplify some layout elements during preview. Your exported files keep the full original formatting.
Why do fonts look different in preview?
The preview uses system fonts, not the fonts from your original document. This may cause small visual differences such as text wrapping or spacing. Your exported file will use the original fonts, so formatting will appear as expected.
Will my PPTX file look exactly the same after translation?
This depends on the application used to open the file. Different platforms (PowerPoint, Google Slides, Keynote) render PPTX files differently. For the most reliable results, open the translated file in the same platform used to create the original.
Does Vantage preserve Track Changes in DOCX?
Track Changes remains enabled, but the full edit history is not preserved.
Can I keep part of my DOCX file untranslated?
Not currently. Vantage translates the entire file. If you need mixed languages, you can edit the document manually after export.
Does Vantage support image alt text?
Not yet. Alt text in DOCX and PPTX files is currently not imported or preserved.
Are speaker notes in PPTX files supported?
Yes. Speaker notes in PPTX files are supported and will be translated along with the rest of the content.
Collaboration and access
Can I invite new collaborators?
Yes. When creating a project, you can assign contributors for specific languages. After the project is created, you can manage collaborators from the Contributors tab, where you can add or remove users at any time.
Refer to the onboarding guide and the Contributors article to learn more.
Search and analytics
Does global search work across all projects?
Yes. Global search (found in the projects dashboard) works across both Lokalise Expert projects and Vantage projects.
Some areas are still being improved, so certain items such as tasks or analytics may occasionally show partial results.
Why don't I see Vantage activity in the Expert analytics or activity log?
Analytics and activity logs in the Lokalise Expert experience do not currently include Vantage tasks or workflows. Vantage activity is visible within Vantage itself.
Do Vantage tasks appear in Lokalise Expert?
No. Tasks created in Vantage projects are not shown in the Lokalise Expert task view. Vantage and Lokalise Expert use separate task systems, so tasks are only visible within the product where they were created.
